Arg has turned his life around in the past year

Joey appeared on SAS in 2020

He feels the tough Channel 4 show would be perfect for him to tell his story and push himself to the next level.

Speaking exclusively to The Celeb Report, he said: “Celebrity SAS, I’d love to do that one day. I think that would be a great show for me.

“Joey Essex is one of my best friends. I actually watched the series with him when it went out and he did really well. I was super, super proud of him.”

Towie star Joey took part in the 2020 series of the gruelling reality show, quitting after an intense interrogation.

Chief Instructor Ant Middleton was gutted to see him leave, comforting him with a hug before he exited.

James isn’t phased by the tough nature of the show and believes it would be a perfect fit for him.

“I think a lot of the SAS is all about stories of people that have been through a lot and made it through to the other side,” he said.

“I think the fact that I’ve battled with addiction and I kind of got through that and I battled with an eating disorder and I’ve got through that.

“The fact I was 27 stone, now I’m 13 stone, and I’m actually fit and healthy, and I feel like I’d be able to actually shock people and do pretty well on it, maybe I’ll be considered next time. That would be great.”

Viewers have been watching James do his best Patrick Swayze moves on E4’s Real Dirty Dancing as he recreates famous routines from the iconic 80s film.

The show would have been an impossibility for him just a matter of months ago when just climbing the stairs at home was a challenge.

But his impressive weight loss has given him a new lease of life and he is now up for any challenge.

He said: “I’m really proud of myself that I put myself in a position where I can rehearse for long periods of time and work hard all day and really feel confident. I feel lighter on my feet now. I can do the mambo, I can do the bumping and grinding.

“I can do anything. You know what I mean?”

The Real Dirty Dancing, E4, Mondays at 9pm.
