GOOD Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway cheekily scolded Piers Morgan as he quizzed her over her famous ex.
The broadcaster appeared on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories last night and discussed her husband Derek Draper’s near-fatal battle with Covid-19 that left him in intensive care for over a year.
And while much of the interview’s focus was on Derek’s health and the reality of his diagnosis on their family, Piers couldn’t help but ask Kate about her love life before she met her husband.
Bring up her autobiography, The Power of Hope, Piers, 54, remarked: “In your book you cryptically reveal that before you met Derek you dated an actor.
“You didn’t actually name the actor”.
To which Kate coyly corrected him: “No, it was a performer”.
“A singer?” the former GMB host asked, which Kate answered, “A musician of sorts”.
Stunned by her admission, Piers continued: “A famous one? Oh really, like globally famous? Yes, wow, here we go.”
Keeping quiet, the I’m A Celeb alum smiled and insisted: “I’m not talking about it.”
Piers couldn’t help but jokingly ask, “Ed Sheeran?”.
Kate laughed: “I’m not talking about it. This is escalating out of all proportion.”
In the same segment, Kate, 54, admitted that Derek, also 54, was her only boyfriend not to dump her.
She shared: “I think Derek is the only person I’ve been out with that hasn’t dumped me. I’ve always been dumped, I’ve never ended a relationship.”
“How many times are we talking?” a shocked Piers queried.
“We’re in double figures,” Kate said. “If you’d known the bar was set so low you’d rather double that”.
Elsewhere in the interview, fans were left heartbroken as Kate broke down in tears after revealing her “loneliness” with husband Derek.
The Good Morning Britain presenter opened up about how she’s been coping with Derek’s ongoing health battle during the last episode of Piers Morgan Life Stories.
Derek was rushed to hospital in March last year after contracting Covid-19.
He was critically ill and spent over a year in hospital, before finally returning home to be cared for by Kate and their children Darcey, 15, and Billy, 12.
Speaking about how things are at the moment, Kate told Piers: “There are lots of moments of joy in that, recognition, moments with the children where he definitely knows what they’re saying to him and remembers things.
“But there is no way of knowing what the future is and in the meantime, it’s a strange thing Piers…”
As she fought back the tears, she continued: “I want him there and I want him back, but some days his presence reminds me the absence, so you can feel very lonely. I feel like I just want to talk to Derek.
“Even though I believe he’s there, he can’t be there in that same way.
“I love him more than ever by the way.”
As viewers watched on, many took to Twitter to praise Kate for how she’s handled the past 21 devastating months.
