Kirstie and Phil’s Love it or List it viewers left fuming by ‘disgusting animal abuse’ in couple’s home

KIRSTIE and Phil’s Love it or List it viewers have been left fuming by ‘disgusting animal abuse’ in a couple’s home.

Wednesday night’s episode of the Channel 4 show saw the property supremos revisit Amber and her husband Martin.

Kirstie and Phil’s Love It or Lose It viewers were not impressed with a couple who had more than 300 spiders as pets

Viewers were angry that some of the animals were kept in jars

The couple were fed up of their three-bed semi-detached home in Waterbeach, which they share with their young son.

However, the family are not alone in their higgledy-piggledy house, as Martin also has more than 300 spiders in his collection, which he keeps in the garage.

Spider-mad Martin has tarantulas and other breeds and keeps them in various tanks and jars in the room.

However, some viewers at home were not impressed by the facilities he had provided the animals.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “Absolutely disgusted at the couple on tonight’s #LIOLI keeping Spiders in jars and tiny boxes, calling them hobbies.

“Vile! This is why we shouldn’t have #exotics as #pets They need better #animalrights and protection.”

Another added: “Animal abuser nutters #LIOLI The man needs professional help!”

A fellow viewer agreed, writing: “Spiders in jars ffs! What’s the matter with @Channel4 giving s***e like this air time?”

Meanwhile another tweeted: “Usually LOVE watching #LIOLI but am arachnophobic and am being freaked out by the spiders, aaaagghhhh!”

According to The Spruce Pets website regarding housing requirements for tarantulas: “the general rule of thumb is the length of enclosure should be approximately three times the spider’s leg span, and the width of the enclosure should be roughly double its leg span.”

It also states that tarantulas have a leg span between 5 and 8 inches long on average, while females are often larger than the males.

The spiders were stored in tanks and jars in the garage

Kirstie and Phil’s Love It or Lose It airs on Channel 4 and is available on All4.
