MADE IN Chelsea’s Ollie Locke has shared two emotional videos revealing the “beginning” of his IVF journey with husband Gareth.
The popular reality stars have headed to Mexico to follow their dream of starting a family, after their desire to become dads was documented in the E4 series.
Last month, we reported how the TV stars had headed overseas to start treatment – and their happy update reveals the initial stages were successful.
In the first video, Ollie created a montage showing the pair in their taxi and sweetly holding hands before they entered the fertility centre.
The E4 show veteran – who has been on the series since its inception 10 years ago – then honed in on a plastic tumbler presumably for their samples.
In the caption, he teased: “And just like that… it was the beginning!”
In a separate video uploaded to his Instagram page, Ollie captured the very moment their eggs had been fertilised.
In the wording alongside, he gushed: “I’m not crying, you’re crying!
“This is the very moment our eggs were fertilised… in 9 months time, after being looked after by a very wonderful human we hope to be able to show you what he or she looks like and how much love we have to give!
“I cannot wait to meet you little one and to be your daddy with @garethplocke Xx thank you @advancedfertilitycentercancun for being so wonderful Xx.”
Their celebrity pals were quick to celebrate with co-star Emily Blackwell posting: “The cup!!!
So excited for you both
can’t wait to see you xxxxxxx.”
Lottie Moss added: “Yay congratulations!!!!” while TOWIE’s Jess Wright put: “Bless you
sending so much love! X.”
Previously in a statement posted on Instagram, Ollie and Gareth explained they were following the lead of “another Chelsea-based couple” by seeking medical help in the States.
They also added their trip falls under medical exemptions, allowing them to travel over to the States to parent a baby via surrogate.
They wrote: “To our amazing followers, The last year has been super tough on everyone and the joint effort of everyone has made a huge effect on all of us collectively getting past the restrictions and difficulties of Covid-19.
“Respectfully and excitingly we wanted to post and make an announcement that we have traveled across the world and under medical exemptions to begin our IVF and surrogacy journey.
“We know you have loved watching our journey so far and we can’t wait to take you on the adventure with us on the other side of the world and with any luck we might have some very good news for you in the coming months!”
The statement ended: “We hope our followers understand and support us in this journey and that you appreciate the circumstances that have allowed us to travel outside of a normal situation.”
Both Gareth and Ollie have spoken on Made In Chelsea about their plans for a baby, stating they would both provide sperm to inseminate an egg, with neither knowing the identity of the actual father once fertilisation is complete.
The process is similar to that of How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka, who now have daughter Harper and son Gideon, both 10.
They’re aware that they have each technically fathered one of the babies each, but refer to them as ‘the twins’ and don’t know which is biologically theirs.
