FANS of The Masked Singer are convinced they have “worked out” that Traffic Cone is after spotting FOUR clues over the weekend.
Viewers of the ITV singing competition are certain that the celebrity behind the mask is Heart presenter Jamie Theakston after taking note of “radio” hints.
Traffic Cone has had fans stumped to their identity – despite giving away clues that his body shape is something very close to his heart.
They also said they have a “sporting” chance of keeping us guessing, noted they’re a troublemaker and concluded: “I made my money taking my top off.”
“I’m hoping I’m on the road to success, because there ain’t no Plan B,” the mystery celeb later added, joking that they were here to “bring the party”.
The character sang Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up over the weekend, wowing the judges with their obvious singing prowess.
Fans flooded Twitter with their suggestions of the identity of the star behind the mask, with many suggesting it could be radio star Jamie, 51.
“Jamie Theakston is traffic cone,” one fan wrote to social media, as a second chimed in to agree: “I think traffic cone is Jamie Theakston.”
“Random revelation that traffic cone could be Jamie Theakston,” a third added, giving reasons for their choice relating to the cryptic clues.
“Top of the Pops, radio, Heart, sporting chance – he was in the games,” they continued. “Now watch and prove me completely wrong.”
It comes days after viewers speculated that Traffic Cone is none other than toolbelt-wearing telly legend Nick Knowles.
The DIY: SOS and I’m A Celeb star, 59, is thought to be behind the crazy character, who performed alongside dancing workmen on the ITV hit.
Nick is a long-time singer with a silky voice who has even released his own album, Every Kind of People.
However, back when he started out on TV as the traffic reporter for the Meridian region, he was “Nicky Knowles, the man who knows his cones“.
That could explain why the character described themselves as the “OG TC” – or original traffic cone.
Footage from 1993 shows him telling viewers: “If you’re stuck in Cone City – that’s the Basingstoke ring road – it’s your own fault, you ought to know better by now.”
Other viewers suggested the diggers and workmen were a clue to his long history on DIY programmes.
And the final clue – “I made my money taking my top off” – could point to Nick’s shirt-free appearances on I’m A Celebrity.
The star appeared wearing only what Dec Donnelly referred to as his “naughty little red pants” – which were auctioned for charity cash after the 2018 series.
Plus, the cone being “the shape of something close to his heart” could refer to the pick that guitar wizard Nick uses to belt out his tunes.
Plenty of other Masked Singer viewers just thought the cone’s musical performances straight-up sounded like the star.
