Matt Smith looks a far cry from The Crown as star walks his dog in a T-shirt in London

MATT Smith has been spotted looking totally unrecognisable compared to his role as Prince Philip in The Crown.

The actor – who starred in the royal family based Netflix drama for its first two seasons – was seen walking his dog in London.

Matt looked very different as he walked his dog in London

Matt, 39, who was cast as the late Prince Philip back in 2015, was photographed walking his shaggy terrier nearby his home.

Dressed all in black – and with his brunette locks grown out long down his neck – he looked vastly different to his royal character.

Sweeping his hair back from his face, Matt kept it casual in a black t-shirt, trousers and boots, covering up with a hoodie.

He completed his look with a silver gold chain, as he was seen listening to music on his phone while strolling through the capital.

Matt looked world’s away from Prince Philip, who he played for two years alongside Claire Foy, who starred as the Queen.

The Dr Who star was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for the role.

Matt appears to have returned to his natural hair colour after he was last seen in September, sporting peroxide blonde locks.

The actor was snapped filming on location in Newquay, Cornwall, filming new Game of Thrones prequel TV series House of the Dragon.

He is due to be playing Prince Daemon Targaryen, younger brother to King Viserys and heir to the throne.

Previously, Matt was spotted puffing on a roll-up cigarette as he headed out drinking alone in the capital last August.

The actor was left devastated last year devastated after the sudden death of his dad, who passed away aged 73.

The former Doctor Who star previously credited his dad as being “the greatest influence” on his life.

He gushed in a 2018 interview about his family: “My old man, he’s a legend. He’s the greatest influence on my life, bar none.

“I often think all of my truest moments as an actor are somehow impersonations of him.

“Because when I impersonate him, emotionally or even his voice – he’s from Blackburn – as a kid I would impersonate him a lot and if I can be half the dad… It sounds sentimental, but he’s put his family first.

“My sister, he remortgaged the house to put her through dance school and he never missed anything.”

Matt also credited his dad for helping him through tough moments in his career – including being cast as the youngest ever Doctor at the age of 26 in 2009.

David encouraged his son to “adapt” after Matt called him in a panic full of self-doubt over the role.

Matt shared: “He always said it doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you enjoy it.”

The actor, who recently played Prince Philip in Netflix hit The Crown, grew up in Northampton with his dad, mum Lynne, and sister Laura Jayne.
