BBC Breakfast Presenter Naga Munchetty cracked up on this morning’s episode after the network’s chief political correspondent Adam Fleming was struck by technical issues.
Naga, 46, couldn’t contain her giggles on the latest instalment of the popular morning show after the blunder plunged Adam into darkness.
And it didn’t take long for things to turn a little awkward.
The journalist was reporting on the final day of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow – better known as COP26 – when the camera light seemed to fail.
The tech gaffe left viewers unable to see the Scotsman properly, but the show must go on, as they say.
The 41-year-old ducked out of sight as the audience returned to the studio, where Naga addressed the issue.
“Oh, now the light has gone off. That’s what happens while on live TV”, she remarked.
Without responding to the comment, straightfaced co-host Jon Kaye clearly decided it was best to move on swiftly and launched into the next segment.
Speaking in a serious tone, he said: “We are cutting our carbon emissions as we speak, living exactly the responsibilities”.
But before the 52-year-old was even a few words into his line, Streatham-born Naga was in stitches at his handling of the situation.
She giggled into her hand as she looked off to one side before quickly pulling herself together as Jon powered on.
Viewers flocked to Twitter to comment on the whole fiasco, with one simply repeating Jon’s words: “Cutting our carbon emissions as we speak”, alongside a laughing emoji.
However, another angrily added: “Predictably, Naga enjoyed the lights going out on her colleague. She seems to enjoy it when others have mishaps while she runs her narcissistic agenda. Distasteful”.
