Netflix fans seriously divided over ‘disgusting’ half-human, half-animal babies in new show Sweet Tooth

NETFLIX viewers have been left seriously divided over the half-animal, half-human babies in new show Sweet Tooth.

The series, produced by Robert Downey Jr, is based on the popular comic book of the same name by Jeff Lemire about a post-apocalyptic future where humanity has been decimated by a pandemic.

Fans have been left divided over the half-human, half-animal kids

Following the pandemic, human-animal ‘hybrids’ begin to populate the world, one of which is Gus, a young boy who is half human and half deer.

While the topical plot line has had fans hooked from the offset, there is one thing people are disagreeing on, and it’s got heated on social media.

The half-human, half-animal babies in the series have caused division, as some insist they are “so cute” while others have dubbed them “terrifying”.

Taking to social media to debate on the topic, Netflix themselves posted a snap of the children to Twitter, asking “how cute” viewers thought they are.

Some have dubbed the children ‘cute’

“I don’t like babies much, but the hybrid babies in Sweet Tooth are cute as f***,” wrote one fan kicking off the debate.

“Me, watching Sweet Tooth: hybrid babies are 1000x cuter than any human babies,” another gushed, as a third added: “Adorable babies!”

“The pig baby in Sweet Tooth is too cute,” chimed in another, as a fifth wrote: “I want to protect every one of those animal babies.”

Others shared heart and love-eyed emojis alongside snaps of the children, some of whom have pig-shaped noses, beaks like birds and horns.

Others have admitted they find the kids ‘terrifying’

But not everyone was impressed, as others took to social media to say it was “too much” and that they were disgusted by the hybrids.

“We’re calling this cute? I mean maybe ONE was but some are nightmare material,” one woman wrote of the collection of babies.

“Is this what Netflix is producing now?” another wrote under a picture of the bird-featured child. “This is f***ing terrifying.”

“I don’t even think normal babies are cute – what on earth is this horror?” a third chimed in as a fourth simply added: “The baby piglet just isn’t it!”

Some called the babies ‘nightmarish’

One viewer even went so far as to suggest Netflix should offer “free subscriptions” to anyone who felt “disturbed” or had “nightmares” from the series.

The new Netflix series was dropped on the streaming site on Friday, and already viewers have headed to watch it in their droves.

The Netflix official description for the show reads: “On a perilous adventure across a post-apocalyptic world, a lovable boy who’s half-human and half-deer searches for a new beginning with a gruff protector.”

Christian Convery, Nonso Anozie, Adeel Akhtar and Will Forte all play lead roles in Sweet Tooth.

Heroes star Dania Ramirez (Aimee), Flash favourite Neil Sandilands (General Steven Abbot), New Zealand actress Stefania LaVie Owen (Bear) and X-Files regular Aliza Vellani (Rani Singh) also appear in the upcoming Netflix drama.

American director Jim Mickle has developed the show, based on Jeff Lemire’s comic book series of the same name.
