The original series of Blankety Blank originally aired in 1979 on the BBC and was presented by the late Terry Wogan and then by Les Dawson until being axed in 1990.

It returned to telly in the late 90s as Paul O’Grady fronted the programme as Lily Savage.

It was dropped by the public service broadcaster in 1999 and went to ITV for a short time before it met the same fate.

The Beeb have confirmed the new series will kick off on Saturday September 17 at 8pm on BBC One.
