SHETLAND actress Alison O’Donnell has paid tribute to her co-star Douglas Henshall as his final scenes are set to air.

He previously shocked fans by announcing this would be his last ever series
The seventh series of Shetland has been airing on BBC One and will be the actor’s final appearance as DI Jimmy Perez.
His last ever scenes are expected to be screened on Wednesday night with it still unclear how he exits the programme.
Ahead of the episode, his co-star Alison O’Donnell who plays DS Alison ‘Tosh’ McIntosh has shared a touching tribute to Douglas.

“Dougie was totally amazing,” she explained to Radio Times. “He’s such an aware person.
“He came into the series understanding that he was the lead, and he led.
“He knew how to help everyone with their particular set of problems.”
She added: “One of the things I love most about Dougie — and I love many things — is that he gets the best out of people.”
Alison also admitted she was aware of Douglas’ intentions to leave the show – as far back as series five.
Last week fans were left concerned for his character Jimmy’s life as he continued to find the culprit of the mysterious murders on the island.
The episode ended as a hooded person could be seen assembling a bomb in a darkly lit garage before the credits rolled.
Shetland continues tonight at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
