Staged’s David Tennant and Michael Sheen replaced by The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons as ‘they’re not famous enough’

THE Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons has stepped in to replace British actors David Tennant and Michael Sheen on their show staged.

Parsons, 47, popped up on the latest episode of Tennant and Sheen’s lockdown comedy.

The second series is jam packed with surprise A-lists guest stars including Parsons who is auditioning with David to replace Michael.

The premise of the sophomore series of Staged is centred around the success of the first season, with the men looking to make an American adaptation of the show.

But Staged’s producers don’t think Tennant and Sheen are big enough names in the US, so are looking for some bigger stars to replace.

Cue Parsons who is on Zoom trying his hardest in the audition and dealing with an exasperated Tennant.

Staged has become so successful they are adapting it for the US, but with more ‘famous’ people

The Scottish actor is lying on his couch in the bottom corner of the frame as offers the Emmy award winning star very vague feedback.

“Are you joking,” Parsons ask Tennant, who had labelled his best friend Sheen as an a***hole. “It’s just that I can’t see you, you’re like in the bottom corner of my screen.”

The pair then have a heated clash about the script, with Parsons helping the former Doctor Who to have a positive realisation about Sheen.

Series two of Staged also sees the pair attempt to navigate their ‘new normal’ at home with their increasingly exasperated families.

At the same time, the dynamic duo are also trying to tackle the world of ‘virtual Hollywood’ and their very fragile egos.

Staged is about furloughed actors during the pandemic

Georgia Tennant, Anna Lundberg and Lucy Eaton alongside Nina Sosanya and Simon Evans have returned also.

New cast members include Primetime Emmy winner Ben Schwartz, who plays the assistant to Michael and David’s American agent.

Staged airs on BBC One and is also available on BBC iPlayer.
