Soon after, Adam’s mum Caroline took to Twitter to praise her son, 26, before claiming the show was ‘fixed‘ and she wasn’t ‘buying’ the public vote.

Appearing on today’s BBC Breakfast, Adam was asked about her comments by host Charlie Stayt.

Adam immediately defended his mum’s tweet, telling him: “I agree with you, mums are always going to support their own.

“She wanted to see me every Saturday night – you know how mums get, bless her.

“I love her to bits, she loves me to bits. I think she just wanted me to do a Paso (doble), that’s all she wanted to see me do… for me, if anyone can lose well it’s me, and everyone in that competition, they are incredible people, and I’m glad I’m out because I don’t deserve to be there.”

He continued: “Some of the dancers are just… my jaw is dropping and I will always get behind everyone on the show and so, you know what, that’s incredible, that’s different for me because normally I’m on my own and go, you know, ‘You’re not beating me today’, but this is different…”

Naga Munchetty then asked Adam if he had spoken to his mum about her tweets and he replied that he “didn’t want to censor people”.

He added that his mum has “her thoughts and I’ve got mine” before concluding: “And my thought is the most important one to me, is that I had the most incredible time and everyone on that show deserves to be there.”

After competing against Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin to stay on Strictly, the gold medallist was sent home by the judging panel.

Shortly after the show, Caroline took to Twitter to call the show a FIX – and heap praise on her son and pro partner Katya, 32.

Admitting she was “proud” of the pair, she wrote: “Such an amazing partnership and Katya you have taught my baby boy to dance, thank you.”

“Total fix and I’m not buying the public vote,” she scathingly added.

In another tweet she said: “I believe in fairness, it’s frustrating when you can see from the start that it isn’t, that is all.”

She continued in another post: “The judging is not consistent or fair, not just with Adam either! And just so you know I am a kind person.”
