Brave Amy Begins Fifth Round of Chemotherapy
Strictly star Amy Dowden has shared an update with her fans on her breast cancer treatment as she embarks on her fifth round of chemotherapy. Despite missing this year's BBC competition due to her illness, the professional dancer remains positive and upbeat, as seen in a recent photograph from the hospital.
Mirror Selfie from Hospital
In the photo, Amy, 33, can be seen waving her hand in the mirror while attached to a drip. Sporting a pink hoody and black tracksuit bottoms, she proudly wrote above the image, "Chemo 5 [tick]."
Journey Since Diagnosis
After being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May, Amy underwent a mastectomy in June. Throughout her journey, she has been open with her Instagram followers, sharing glimpses into life with the disease.
A Hard Decision
Last week, Amy made the difficult decision to shave her hair. Initially wanting to hold onto her locks to maintain her identity, she found that her hair was shedding daily after starting chemotherapy. In a heartfelt post, she expressed her emotions about the hair loss but also her determination to find normality and regain control.
Finding Empowerment and Positivity
Amy wrote, "I'm now focusing - not on the hair I'm losing, but the hair I'm going to get back and the happy dancing, tea lover who talks way too fast whilst rolling every 'r' - who is still there inside, with or without hair!" She sees this milestone as a significant step towards the finish line and is feeling empowered and positive.
Amy Dowden's journey has been followed closely by her fans and supporters. Despite her absence from Strictly this year, her determination and strength continue to inspire others.
