SEEN all there is to see on Netflix and co? Well, look no further. The Celeb Report has got you covered with the best new TV shows coming to your screens.
From the eagerly anticipated fourth season of Stranger Things to Ricky Gervais’ new stand up tour, there’s no shortage of shows to binge-watch until your heart’s content.
Stranger Things (Netflix)
Three long years since we last found ourselves in Hawkins, Indiana, Stranger Things has finally returned, with creators the Duffer Brothers promising this new, fourth season is the most spectacular and, well, strangest so far.
If you need a quick recap, season three ended on a bit of a bummer. Although the terrifying Mind Flayer had been destroyed in the Battle of Starcourt Mall and the pesky Russian’s portal into the Upside Down had been closed, both victories came at a terrible cost.
The new season catches up with the crew six months later, the children still trying to process what happened to them.
But there’s little time to start healing because a terrifying new evil is brewing in Hawkins – and there’s unexpected reappearances and some exciting new characters.
Available to watch from Friday, 27 May.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (Disney+)
There’s been a batch of brilliant Star Wars spin-off series over the last few years, but few have got fans as excited as Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Set ten years after the events of Revenge Of The Sith, when Obi-Wan’s apprentice Annakin Skywalker turned to the dark side and became Darth Vader.
The six-part series follows Obi-Wan as he watches over the young Luke Skywalker, and tries to evade capture by Vader and his forces.
Of course, for many Star Wars fanatics, the three prequel films that Ewan originally starred in – The Phantom Menace, Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith – are the weakest in the entire cannon.
Available to watch from Wednesday, 25 May.
Ricky Gervais: SuperNature (Netflix)
His After Life series has smashed all records on Netflix, and now the streaming giant are delivering another gem from their mega-money deal with the comic in the form of a new stand-up special of his latest SuperNature tour.
He had already performed half of the tour dates before being shut down by the pandemic in 2020, but eventually resumed the show 18 months later. We know what you’re thinking: “Surely the jokes are outdated by now?”
But come on, good jokes never get old, and Ricky has confirmed that he has kept it fresh and insists that these latest run of gigs are actually the best he’s ever done.
As always, Ricky pushes the limits with his daringly funny gags, resulting in another cracking special that’s sure to have you howling if you’re a fan.
Available to watch from Tuesday, 24 May.
We Feed People (Disney+)
In the space of 12 years, chef José Andrés’ non-profit organisation World Central Kitchen has gone from being little more than a small group of volunteers to one of the most respected humanitarian aid providers on the planet.
Focused on providing food following disasters and humanitarian crises, World Central Kitchen has since served more than 60 million meals, saving lives and bringing hope to those in need.
This awe-inspiring documentary, which is directed by Ron Howard, travels to the frontline to follow José and his team at work. Humbling stuff.
Available to watch Friday, May 27.
Prehistoric Planet Apple TV+
The one and only Sir David Attenborough provides the narration for this stunning five-part natural history series, which travels back 66 million years to investigate prehistoric Earth and the jaw-dropping dinosaurs that lived there.
Using state-of-the-art technology and deep-diving into the latest paleontological discoveries, the show brings ancient Earth and its incredible inhabitants to life like never before.
On top of all that, the series – which drops one episode a day, Monday to Friday – features an original soundtrack by Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer.
New episodes every day from Monday until Friday.
The Chalet (All4)
It’s off to France for the latest, nail-biting Walter Presents offering. After pregnant Adele is recommended some rest and relaxation, she and her partner Manu set off for the Alpine village of Valmoline, where he grew up.
But when a huge boulder destroys the bridge that connects the isolated village to the outside world, the pair find themselves trapped with Valmoline’s last six inhabitants – and soon, mysterious, terrifying secrets from the past come to light.
An enjoyably enigmatic thriller, with subtitles.
Available to watch from Friday, May 27.
Welcome To Eden (Netflix)
When a group of beautiful twentysomethings head off to a remote island for an exclusive party, they quickly find themselves drawn into a terrifying and dangerous mystery. A hugely bingeable eight-part thriller from Spain, with subtitles.
The Kimfluencer (YouTube)
EastEnders embraces the 21st century with this fun digital spin-off series, which follows Kim Fox’s attempts to become a social media influencer.
Along the way, Kim Tameka Empson, with the help of Howie and various Albert Square regulars, tries her hand at a bunch of influencer trends.
Conversations With Friends (BBC iPlayer)
Fans of Normal People have been lapping up this 12-part drama based on Sally Rooney’s debut novel.
Slow-burning and heavy with romantic tension, it’s intense stuff, enhanced by an impressive performance from newcomer Alison Oliver in the lead role.
Meltdown: Three Mile Island (Netflix)
While Chernobyl and Fukushima get most of the headlines, the US has had its own near-catastrophic nuclear disaster – the Three Mile Island partial meltdown of 1979.
This sobering four-part docuseries tells the story of what caused the meltdown and examines the aftermath.
Troppo (Amazon FreeVee)
Unconventional private investigator Amanda (Nicole Chamoun) teams up with ex police officer Ted (Thomas Jane) to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a Korean technology guru. A gripping Australian drama series with plenty of familiar faces in its impressive cast.
