Top Boy fans all say the same thing as Netflix’s season 2 finally drops

TOP Boy fans have been left thrilled the wait is “finally over” after Netflix dropped the second season of the hit TV show.

Viewers flooded Twitter on Friday morning shortly after the release of the eight new episodes to celebrate the wait was finally over.

Top Boy returned with its fourth season on Friday

Netflix’s series two is already being binged-watched by fans

Fans of the show – who have been waiting years for the highly-anticipated release – have spent Friday binge-watching the episodes.

The crime drama last streamed in the final quarter of 2019, as production was put on hold when coronavirus struck the TV industry.

Viewers were relieved  when actor Ashley Walters revealed that filming had finally kicked off in December 2020.

Along with Walters and Michael Ward, Kane Robinson has returned for the next instalment, as well as most of the cast from series 3.

Now, the new eight episodes have finally been dropped to Netflix, which fans have been busy watching since they were uploaded at midnight.

Many took to Twitter to share their opinions on the new series, and celebrate the release of the new series after the long wait.

“Long wait finally over,” one fan wrote to Twitter. “Watching already.”

A second chimed in: “I feel like I have been waiting FOREVER,” as a third agreed: “Yes, I am watching every single episode today.”

“New Top Boy is out, so that’s me not doing anything for the rest of the day,” a fourth viewer joked.

Other fans lamented that they had already finished the fourth series of the show – which originally aired for two seasons on Channel 4.

“Finished Top Boy,” wrote one, as a second chimed in: “I don’t think I’ve ever been more shocked at an ending in my LIFE what the f**k.”

Top Boy’s return has seen familiar faces back on Netflix – as stars Walters and Ward, as well as Jolade Obasola, Hope Ikpoku, and Araloylin Oshunremi, returning to the series.

Newcomers Josephine De La Baume, Howard Charles, Ava Brennan, Erin Kellyman, ‘NoLay’ and Adwoa Aboah have no doubt also impressed Netflix subscribers.

Top Boy – created by Ronan Bennett – premiered in 2011 on Channel 4.

It was followed by a second series two years later.

Although Netflix is calling the latest set of episodes season two, it is actually the fourth offering in the series.

Earlier this month, fans were left convinced they had already rumbled  a major season two death after one “giveaway clue” in the trailer.
