Where to buy red noses in 2022

Red Nose Day is an annual fundraising event run by charity Comic Relief to help people suffering from discrimination, poverty and violence.

One of the most iconic aspects of Comic Relief’s big day is the red nose.

Children and adults in the UK have worn red noses, which come in a variety of designs, since 1988.

You can buy them from:

  • Argos (in person or online)
  • Sainsburys (in person or online)
  • Comic relief online

And if you want to buy more Red Nose Day memorabilia, TK Maxx sell Red Nose Day T-shirts which are designed by different celebrities every year.

This year the limited edition t-shirts were designed by Kate Garraway, Rose Ayling-Ellis and Frankie Bridge among others.

What are 2022’s red noses made out of?

Comic Relief launched its first-ever 100% plastic-free, plant-based red nose in 2021.

The noses took over 18 months to develop and are made from a natural sugar cane biproduct – making the noses biodegradable.

In 2019, Comic Relief began looking at ways to make the iconic plastic noses more sustainable after hundreds of school children asked them to create noses to help the environment.

Comic Relief co-founder Richard Curtis said: “I’m extremely pleased that we have created the first plastic-free nose for Red Nose Day 2021.”

“We are committed to designing a more sustainable Nose every year, while continuing to make them attractive and fun, and recognise we still have a lot of work to do in creating the perfect model.”

The 2022 noses are eight different wild animals, made from the bagasse material.

Why do we wear red noses?

People wear red noses to show that they are celebrating Red Nose Day and that they have donated.

The proceeds of red noses go to Comic Relief, so wearing a red nose is a symbol of your donation and support for the Comic Relief cause.

This year the charity has confirmed that funds will also go towards supporting those fleeing Ukraine after the Russian Invasion.
