Where is Gentleman Jack filmed? Filming locations revealed

GENTLEMAN Jack is back for its second season to continue the story of high society lesbian Anne Lister.

Viewers of the first season enjoyed the beautiful locations where the show was filmed, piecing together a recreated Victorian era. Here is where the period drama was filmed.


Shibden Hall

Upon her aunt’s death in 1836, the real Anne Lister inherited the family estate, Shibden Hall, from which she drew a reasonable income

Where is Gentleman Jack filmed?

York

Anne Lister’s house at Crow Nest were filmed in Sutton Park and is open to the public.

Sadly, the original home of Anne Lister no longer exists.

Filming also took place in the small 15th century Holy Trinity Church in Goodramgate.

Fairfax House was used for interior shots of Vere Cameron’s home and is open to the public as a museum.

North Yorkshire

Newby Hall near Ripon appears as Lord and Lady Stuart’s home in Gentleman Jack.

It was previously a family-owned Georgian house, which is now open to the public.

Broughton Hall near Skipton features as the Black Swan Inn.

West Yorkshire

A 19th-century market was reconstructed on Huddersfield’s Queen Street in the town centre and scenes set in a solicitor’s office took place at Oakwell Hall in Birstall.

This Elizabethan house, near Batley, is open to the public.

Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield was used as Rawsons Bank in the series.

Bramham Park is used for the exterior of Skelfer House.

Copenhagen

Some of the filming for Gentleman Jack was actually done on location in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The Copenhagen City Hall was used for some scenes alongside the royal chambers at Gavnø Castle.

When does Gentleman Jack season 2 start on BBC?

The new series will kick off on Sunday, April 10 at 9pm on BBC One.

Each episode will become available to watch on BBC iPlayer once they’ve aired.

The channel has confirmed there are eight episodes in the new season with new instalments premiering weekly.
