IT’S been 15 years since fans woke up this morning to a new episode of The Sopranos.
Bu the show remains as popular as ever, as evident from the recent hit prequel movie, The Many Saints of Newark.
Not to mention the countless books and podcasts that still break down every whack and every backstabbing on the award winning series.
Over eight years, The Sopranos enthralled viewers as it followed the fortunes of the New Jersey Soprano family and their mobster dad Tony.
Doling out violence and comedy in equal measures, the show began with mob boss Tony, played by James Gandolfini, going to therapy to help deal with his controlling mum.
Soon it branched out into darker territory, changing the way TV shows were made and heralding a new genre of antiheroes.
What’s not to like?
While the groundbreaking show may only live on in repeats, cast members have taken a variety of paths, from similar movies and shows to real world addiction battles and rehab stints.

JAMES GANDOLFINI
James Gandolfini starred as the troubled New Jersey mob boss Tony Soprano through six seasons of the HBO series.
Writer David Chase loosely based the protagonist on real-life gangster Vinny Ocean, boss of the New Jersey DeCavalcante crime family.
James won the hearts of viewers with his nuanced turn as the anti-hero, and scooped up three Emmy Awards.
After the Sopranos ended in 2007, James transitioned into producing.
But sadly, the larger than life actor died June 19, 2013 of a heart attack while on holiday in Rome. He was 51.
Gandolfini was married twice to Marcy Wudarski and then to Deborah Lin.
He has two kids, Michael and Liliana.
Michael recently stepped into his dad’s shoes, playing a younger version of Tony Soprano in a recent prequel film.
EDIE FALCO
Award-winning actress Edie Falco took up the role of Carmela Soprano, Tony’s soft-spoken but tough-willed wife.
The show became a launchpad for her career, and she took up the lead role in Nurse Jackie in 2009 after The Sopranos ended.
Now 58, she still has a vibrant career as a movie and TV actress.
Her most recent major role was as Hilary Clinton in the American Crime Story drama Impeachment.
JAMIE-LYNN SIGLER
Played by Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Meadow Soprano is Tony and Carmela’s first born.
The 40-year-old went on to star as Heidi Fleiss in Call Me: The Rise and Fall of Heidi Fleiss. She also had a cameo role in Mariah Carey’s single Through the Rain.
Jamie-Lynn is a passionate spokeswoman for the National Eating Disorders Association, after her own struggles with the illness while starring in the Sopranos.
She married baseball player Cutter Dysktra in 2016, and the two share two sons, Beau Kyle and Jack Adam Dykstra.
ROBERT ILER
Robert Iler all but left the spotlight after his run as Tony Soprano’s troubled son, A.J.
The 36-year-old struggled with substance abuse and addiction, but says he has been clean and sober since 2013.
Robert moved to Las Vegas after the mob drama ended, and entered the world of professional poker.
He now co-hosts a podcast with Jamie-Lynn called Pajama Pants.
AIDA TURTURRO
Tony’s older sister, Janice, was played by 59-year-old Aida Turturro.
She began her career in the late 90’s, with roles in films including Sleepers and Deep Blue Sea.
After finding success on The Sopranos, she bounced around a few different shows, most notably recurring on NBC’s The Blacklist.
LORRAINE BRACCO
Former fashion supermodel Lorraine Bracco starred as wry psychiatrist Dr .Jennifer Melfi in The Sopranos.
Now 67, Lorraine went on to star in more gangster series, including Law and Order: Criminal Intent and as the narrator of the show I Married a Mobster.
She also found lasting success playing the mother of Angela Rizzoli, on the long-running detective show Rizzoli and Isles.
The TV star married and divorced twice, first to Frenchman Daniel Guerard and then to actor Harvey Keitel. She has two daughters, one from each marriage.
DREA DE MATTEO
Drea de Matteo, now 50, played Christopher Moltisanti’s glamorous fiance Adriana La Cerva.
It was the New York born actor’s first major role on screen – and helped launch her career.
Hot on the heels of the HBO drama, de Matteo went on to star in a number of films including Prey for Rock & Role, The Perfect You and Swordfish.
In 2001, de Matteo began dating musician Shooter Jennings.
The couple were engaged in 2009 and have a daughter, Alabama Gypsyrose Jennings, and a son, Waylon Albert Jennings.
However, the pair split without ever getting married.
MICHAEL IMPERIOLI
Michael Imperioli starred in The Goodfellas before taking on the role of Christopher Moltisanti in The Sopranos.
The talented actor played Tony Soprano’s protege and a member of the DiMeo crime family.
Throughout the series he rises through the ranks in the New Jersey crime network.
After starring in The Sopranos, Imperioli branched out into the arts, becoming a writer, director and musician as well as appearing in multiple films.
Now 55, is also the lead guitarist and vocalist for the band Zopa, and appeared in the Soprano’s prequel, The Many Saints of Newark.
TONY SIRICO
Paulie “Walnuts” was a captain in the mob family, and served as Tony’s right-hand.
Like many of his co-star, Tony Sirico, now 79, appeared in Goodfellas before becoming a made Sopranos man.
While continuing to play the various mob boss in T.V. shows and movies, Tony has also found steady work as a voiceover artist.
He can be heard playing various characters on shows like Family Guy and American Dad.
VINCENT PASTORE
Vincent Pastore played the loveable Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on the hit show.
And although his character met an early demise, he remained extremely popular.
Vincent, 75, has made a career playing the mob type, and has over 180 acting credits to his name.
He currently has at least 10 different projects in development, including a movie reuniting him with Sopranos co-star Tony Sirico.
DOMINIC CHIANESE
Dominic Chianese played Tony’s uncle Corrado “Junior” Soprano on the show, but he got his start in another classic mob movie, playing Johnny Ola in The Godfather Part II.
After The Sopranos wrapped, the 90-year-old refused to slow down, taking roles in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, CBS’ The Good Wife and most recently, NBC’s The Village.
He also wrote a memoir in 2018, titled Twelve Angels.
