Who is Peter Ash and who does he play in Coronation Street?

PETER Ash is currently involved in one of Coronation Street’s biggest storylines but who does he play and what other shows has he been in?

Who does Peter Ash play?

Peter plays the role of Paul Foreman, a twin brother to Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and partner to Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank).

Paul first appeared on the Corrie cobbles back in 2018 and has lived a life full of drama ever since.

His first introduction to fans was as the cellmate to David Platt, who was in prison for his attack on Gary Windass.

Months later upon his release, it transpired that he was Gemma’s twin and she lived on the same street as David.

He eventually manages to get a job at the factory working for Carla Connor in packing.

Paul and Gemma’s mum, Bernie, later arrives on the street and despite ruffling a few feathers, she eventually manages to re-bond with her children despite a rocky family life.

Does Paul have an illness?

Paul was recently given the heartbreaking diagnosis of motor neurone disease (MND).

It came as a shock to Paul as he thought he had just suffered a hand injury in a road accident caused by Carla Connor.

After being informed he was dying and therefore too ill to work, Paul went into financial despair and eventually got involved in criminal activity in a bid to earn some cash quick.

However, the police caught up with him and he was arrested and charged with car theft and he eventually revealed the real reason why to best friend and former flatmate Dee Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown).

Paul also told the truth to Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) who had helped to cover for him with his crimes but he refused to tell his family or partner Billy.

His condition began to deteriorate and he began to limp after loosing control of his foot.

Dee Dee urged him to tell his family but he refused and cancelled his plans to walk Gemma down the aisle at her wedding owing to his illness.

Soon, Billy discovered the truth and was left aghast at Paul’s condition.

Paul then broke down at his sister’s wedding, where he told her of his illness with their mum Bernie overhearing the conversation.

Is Peter Ash leaving Coronation Street?

Peter will be leaving the ITV soap opera at the end of his current storyline.

His character will die from his condition in what looks set to be incredibly moving scenes.

No date has yet been confirmed for Peter’s departure from the show.

What other shows has Peter Ash appeared in?

Peter has had a varied career but has worked in television and theatre for the last 20 years.

His first on-screen TV appearance was in 2003 in the drama Blue Murder.

He later began appearing in Casualty on a recurring basis as Keith Jowell, which he played for six episodes.

Peter’s biggest role outside of Corrie was Footballer’s Wives.

He was a regular on the programme as the character Darius Fry, appearing from 2003 to 2006.

Other shows he has appeared in include The Royal, White Van Man and Hollyoaks.

Has Peter Ash won any awards?

Peter was triumphant at the 2020 National Television Awards when he picked up a prestigious gong.

He won the award of best Newcomer for his role as Paul Foreman.

It marked his first major nationwide award.
