Who is Ukraine’s Eurovision entry Tvorchi?

THE final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 will be live at Liverpool, UK.

Artists from over two dozen countries will be competing for the top prize including Ukraine’s Tvorchi.

The grand final of the Eurovision Contest 2023 will be watched by millions of TV viewers globally. 

Tvorchi are Ukraine’s representatives for the competition hoping to make it another win for the country after last year’s success.  

No easy feat for a band going from bomb shelter rehearsals to a global stage. 

“We don’t want to be pitied. We want to inspire people to look at us and be united,” Hutsuliak said in a Rolling Stones interview.  

Who are Tvorchi? 

Tvorchi are an electronic duo consisting of lead singer Jeffery Kenny and sound producer Andrew Hutsuliak. 

The pair met during their time studying pharmacy at Ternopil National Medical University in Ukraine, but it was a Happy Birthday song that began their musical journey. 

Blown away by Kenny’s vocals during the song, Hutsuliak shared his music he had written and thus,Tvorchi were created.  

Since then, the duo has released four studio albums, their first album, The Parts in 2018, Disco Lights in 2019, 13 Waves in 2020 and Road in 2021. 

The pair saw a steady rise to fame in their home country receiving record-breaking nominations at the Ukrainian national music awards and headlining a number of top music festivals. 

The duo were then being to represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Contest in 2020. 

But it was to never be as the contest was cancelled due to COVID with none of the acts selected for 2020 able to perform the next year.  

Fortunately, the due are back again and despite the difficult circumstances still present, the pair hope to make it another win for Ukraine. 

What song with Tvorchi be performing at Eurovision 2023? 

Tvorchi’s single representing Ukraine will be Heart of Steele. 

The song was written about Ukrainian fighters with Hutsuliak explaining how it describes “they have hearts of steel”.

He added how “they’re very strong” and don’t have “brittle spirits” much like “hearts of steel”.

How many times has Ukraine won the Eurovision?

Ukraine has won a total of three Eurovison titles and two-runner ups since they joined the contest in 2003. 

Ukraine’s first win came in 2004 with Wild Dances by Ruslana followed by another win in 2016 with 1944 by Jamala. 

Most recently Ukraine won again in 2022 for Stefania by Kalush Orchestra.
