Will appeared upset during the BBC show after making a mistake during his routine with professional partner Nancy Xu.
He misplaced his footing during the Salsa, which they danced to the sounds of Never Too Much by Luther Vandross.
Admitting he nearly tripped, Will told Claudia: “My mind just completely went blank. It’s the first time I’ve opened the show – whether it was nerves. It’s life, that’s what can happen. It’s live.”
Claudia then revealed that Will wanted to send a message to his kids, Renee, 13, and Jayden, 18, who he shares with wife Michelle McSween.

Will appeared choked as he said: “They’re at home watching. Sorry it wasn’t great for you kids. I tried my best.”
Claudia was quick to step in and support the emotional star, saying: “We will not have that” as the audience cheered.
Nancy also apologised to Will for “pushing him too hard” in last night’s routine.
The pair saw their scores take a dive after a promising first week.
During last week’s first show Will and Nancy were joint top of the leaderboard with 34 out of a possible 40 points.
This number dipped last night as the judges delivered their scores, with the pair netting 26 points this time around.
The results of the first elimination will be revealed in the live results show on Sunday night at 7.15pm on BBC One.
