Winter Love Island fans ‘annoyed’ as they ‘work out 2023 series’ buzzword’

LOVE ISLAND fans have only watched one episode and already they’re convinced they know this year’s “official buzzword”.

As Maya Jama stormed her series debut as the new presenter, and coupled up the first 10 islanders, the guys and girls of the South African villa kept bringing up one word: Unreal.

The islanders kept saying the girls were “unreal”

The series is never shy on catchphrases, with the ITV2 series success bringing terms like “cracking on”, “pieing off” and “it is what it is” being used all year round by viewers.

But already, “unreal” is beginning to grate on viewers by the sheer amount of times it’s been used.

“‘Unreal’ is these people’s favourite compliment isn’t it?” wrote one.

“If I hear the word Unreal one more time,” said another, alongside a GIF of someone being pulled back from a fight.

“All these lot know is “unreal” can we use new adjectives pls kmt,” said a third, while a fourth added: “I need new adjectives. ‘Unreal’ is already played out.”

Another had enough and said: “Throw the word ‘unreal’ in the bin man” while a sixth was baffled by the overuse and added: “Have thèse lot just discovered the word unreal???”

The new series kicked off in style on Monday night, with the first bombshell already entering the villa with the help of Maya Jama.

Macclesfield striker Tom made his entrance into the Love Island villa just as the contestants settled in for the first night.

Now he has to try and earn his place to stay by stealing one of the girls from the other guys – who run the risk of being dumped if they fail to couple up.

Viewers are already fearing for farmer Will Young as a result as it became clear he wasn’t a match for Olivia Hawkins, who coupled up with him when there was noone else to choose from.

Lana Jenkins and Ron Hall – who bonded over their mutual love of Harry Potter – have already been tipped as favourites to win after just one episode.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
