Meghan Markle won’t come to the UK in summer as she ‘doesn’t want to leave Archie’ who ‘loves Zoom calls with Queen’

MEGHAN Markle won’t return to the UK this summer for Her Majesty’s birthday because she doesn’t want to leave Archie who loves Zoom calls with the Queen, according to the author of her biography.

The Duchess of Sussex, 39, does not plan to join Prince Harry, 36, when he visits the Royal Family for the first time since Megxit, royal insiders claim.

Meghan and Harry have been invited to Trooping the Colour this year

The occasion is held to mark the Queen’s birthday – but Meghan won’t come, insiders say

Meghan and Harry are living in their $14million Californian mansion and famously stepped back from their royal duties last year.

The author of her biography Finding Freedom, Omid Scoobie, said their travel plans are “up in the air” due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He added that this year’s visit might be easier for Harry to “make the trip solo”.

Mr Scoobie also said that any meeting Meghan has with the family will likely take place on Zoom.

He told OK! Magazine: “Meghan wouldn’t want to be away from Archie and it would be very tricky to factor a small child into their travels with all the restrictions that could potentially be in place.

ZOOM CHATS

“But it is not Meghan’s intention to snub the family. If Covid wasn’t a factor, she would be there.

“Archie loves being on Zoom calls with the family and the Queen has been enjoying those throughout lockdown.”

Last month, the Queen invited Meghan and Harry to her 95th birthday celebrations.

Her Majesty, 94, is said to be determined to get “back to business” after she was forced to cancel a string of royal events last year due to the pandemic.

She invited her grandson and Meghan to join her for Trooping the Colour in London on June 12 to mark her official birthday.

Mr Scoobie added: “I’m sure Meghan will send the Queen some gorgeous flowers for her birthday and also get Archie to help her with the card.”

Royal expert Nigel Cawthrone, author of the book Prince Andrew, said Meghan would be “snubbing” the royals if she didn’t travel.

He told MailOnline: “If Meghan decided not to attend for no reason it would indeed be a snub to her royal in-laws and mark a nadir in the relations between the royal family and the Sussexes.

“It would be a public relations disaster that would hang like a dark shadow over the celebrations.”

ROYAL SNUB

Trooping the Colour is usually held in public with Meghan previously joining other royals – including Kate Middleton – on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Attending the event would also mean Harry would be in the UK for his grandad, the Duke of Edinburgh’s, 100th birthday.

It comes amid speculation about when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would return to the UK from their home in LA, where they have spent the last year.

They had been due to meet the Queen in March for their 12-month review of Megxit but this was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic.

The Royal Family has a packed diary of big events Prince Harry would be keen not to miss out on.

This includes the unveiling of a statue of Princess Diana that Wills and Harry commissioned together.

The last royal event involving the couple was at the Queen’s Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey last March.

But the day was overshadowed by the Megxit bombshell and came amid reports Prince William was furious with his brother’s decision.
