Charlie Behan Bids Farewell to Hollyoaks

Hollyoaks star Charlie Behan has decided to leave the popular soap opera after an impressive 13-year run. The actor, known for his role as Charlie Dean in the Channel 4 series, has already wrapped up filming his final scenes as the son of the late Becca Dean.

End of an Era for Charlie Dean

Joining the cast in 2011, Charlie took over the character from Joshua McConville and has been a significant part of the show ever since. However, after more than a decade onscreen, Charlie Behan has made the tough decision to bid farewell to Hollyoaks.

Big Changes at Hollyoaks

A source close to the situation shared, "Charlie’s leaving is a big decision but it’s time for him to spread his wings. There are big changes at Hollyoaks and he’s going to miss everyone there but he’s excited for the future." Hollyoaks has been approached for comment on Charlie Behan's departure.

Innovative Storylines and Schedule Changes

Throughout his time on Hollyoaks, Charlie Behan has been part of major storylines, including his character's battle with leukemia, custody issues, and involvement in county lines drug dealing. This news follows the recent decision by Hollyoaks bosses to axe 20 cast members from the show.

Additionally, the show's writers have devised a unique approach to explain the departure of multiple characters from the series. New episodes will feature a dramatic year-long time jump, providing a narrative reason for several families moving away from the village of Chester.

New Episode Schedule

Starting in September, Hollyoaks will transition to airing three episodes per week, down from its current five-episode schedule. The show's producers announced this controversial change back in February, and it is set to take effect soon.

Viewers can expect to catch the three weekly episodes on streaming platforms, E4, and YouTube. Additionally, a weekly hour-long omnibus episode will be broadcast on Channel 4 and available for streaming, providing fans with their dose of drama and excitement.
